HEALTHY LIVING TIPS

I am proud and happy to share with you this practical list sent to me by my friends at Estee Lauder a company I admire and support every October for their incredible commitment to figyt, treat and prevent breast cancer. A disease that affects the women that suffer from it and all their loved ones.

We now know that when a breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage and is localized, 90 percent survive more than five years1 beyond their diagnosis. Early detection saves lives.

Simple lifestyle changes and routine doctor visits can make all the difference. Help US turn Awareness into Action by following these healthy living tips—and encourage others to do so too:

KNOW YOUR BODY

Examine your breasts regularly, and report any changes to your physician.

GET SCREENED

See your doctor regularly for breast exams in your 20s and 30s.

Get an annual mammogram if you are 40 years and older, or earlier if you are high risk.

STAY FIT

Make friends with fruits and vegetables. Their fiber, antioxidants and other nutrients can help you keep a balanced diet.

Maintain a healthy weight. Extra weight means extra risk.

Limit your alcohol intake, and toast to a healthier life.

Do not smoke, and quit if you do.

Focus on fitness. To reduce your risk of breast cancer, the American Cancer Society recommends 45 to 60 minutes of intentional physical activity five or more days a week.
