Chanel: A Global Fantasy
The world keeps getting smaller and smaller and fashion knows no boundaries. Chanel's fame reaches every corner of the planet, new markets, new women who love luxury and deserve the very best. This seemed to be Karl Lagerfeld's message last Tuesday at the Grand Palais where a huge globe with tiny lights represented all the locations where the brand is sold. Beautiful models of every color and race walked around this globe clad in infallible tweed coats, jackersdresses and skirts that to this day most women covet. Black, white, grey and a few hints of red and rose ruled on the catwalk, as well as incredible handbag and tall black leather boots covered in chains.
Those who had the luck of taking a closer look at the clothes were raving about details such as different tweed patterns and perspectives all laid out in one single coat, an A line skirt with zippers in the front that revealed a second mini option when opened, or the lovely cocktail purses in the shape of a globe. The inspiration for the entire show.
Lagerfeld planned this collection thinking about the modern woman in her daily activities dressed fabulously from head to toe. There were no gowns, no red carpet options. No need for those in Lagerfeld's eyes. The signature wool bouclé was once more reinvented in bold and modern options to the delight of women of every age.
The magic backstage was in the hands of Peter Philips Chanel's Creative Director. I've had the opportunity to interview him while visiting New York and he has shared with me invaluable makeup and beauty tips. This time the eyes were illuminated by tiny platinum sequins. A work of art that you'll be able to appreciate really closely thanks to these images sent to me directly by Chanel and were taken by Vincent Lappartient.
He prepped the skin with HYDRA BEAUTY SERUM before putting on the models a light foundation VITALUMIERE AQUA Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 and sealed it with a little of POUDRE UNIVERSELLE LIBRE Natural Finish Loose Powder.
To camouflage imperfections or dark circles he used ECLAT LUMIERE Highlighting Face Pen and CORRECTEUR PERFECTION Long Lasting Concealer.
For the eyes he chose a grey shadow palette QUADRA EYE SHADOW in Prélude, the mascara LE VOLUME DE CHANEL in Noir and types of eyeliners in pencil and khol: LE CRAYON YEUX Precision Eye Definer in Noir and LE CRAYON KHOL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair.
The platinum sequins, which are not part of Chanel's makeup collection were carefully placed on the upper eye lashes as if they were eyeliner. Cheeks and lips were kept soft and natural with a touch of BLUSH CREME DE CHANEL in Inspiration and the lipstick ROUGE COCO SHINE Hydrating Colour Lipshine in Instinct. Both will be available in July 2013.
The nails always chic and classy had a reddish tone LE VERNIS Nail Colour in Elixir, also available in June 2013.
